IBAMBA

Wynant Davis Hubbard

Ibamba

Ibamba is one of the most endearing and moving true stories of man and animal relationships.yet written. Admirers of Elsa and Miijbill will succumb at once to Paddy the lioness, Mr. Thomas the civet cat. Fwifwi the duiker - all adopted as babies - who are only the principal characters among the group of wild animals and birds that live in perfect harmony on IBAMBA, a beautifuL 13-square-mile ranch in Northern Rhodesia. famous for its large population of lions.

It was partly the lions that brought Wynant Hubbard and his petite young bride. Isabella, there in 1929; for Hubbard. a hunter and trained naturalist was fascinated by the supposed curse they had laid on Ibamba.

But motivated by scientifIc purposes also, he wished to establish, away from zoos or research laboratories, a natural atmosphere where all kinds of wild animals could be raised without fear of either humans or each other. In this he succeeded and the warmth, mutual tolerance, understanding and affectionate humor that developed between man and animal seem almost magical.

Very good condition, minor dents to the corners. Dust sheet and fly cover intact.
