On September 3, 1978 members of Joshua Kimono's ZPRA forces hot down the Air Rhodesia Viscount 'Hunyani' shortly after take off from Kariba. Members of the gang then went to the crash site where they massacred most of the survivors. Later that year Rhodesian Security Forces conducted deep penetrations raids into Zambia, attacking several ZPRA bases and killing a vast number of the enemy. This novel is based on those strikes.
