Rhodesia

Martin Loney

The late 1950s and early 1960s saw the rapid and, in most cases, peaceful decolonization of Africa. But today Rhodesia remains colonized, no longer controlled by the imperial power, but still governed by white settlers. Martin Loney describes the history of the colony and of the continuous African opposition to the invaders.

Central to his theme is the development of the power of the intransigent white rulers. In his words, this book is about the historical development of that power, the systematic use which has been made of it to build a prosperous white society in Africa, and the consequent impoverishment of the African population.
