| This book is about war in Africa. It is a true story of the conflict going on at this moment (1969) in the jungles, scrub and desert country of Angola - a war in which people, black and white, are dying every day. Some will have died before the reader finishes the book. The guerilla war in Angola is not an isolated example of insurgency warfare in Africa. Similar wars are being fought in West Africa and Mozambique. The Rhodesians and South Africans of late have experienced the first thrust of a well-trained, well-armed guerilla force which is using every trick in the book of unconventional warfare. Written in 1969 to report on a specific war, it is not only historic for it's time but a precursor for the war that was to engulf Rhodesia and the region. The author is a prolific writer on the subject of counter-insurgency in Africa. |
