The Baobab Tree

Mary Cathcart Borer

RND

This exciting story is set in Central Africa in the pioneering days. Jane Seddon and her family are members of a trek - an intrepid band of men, women and children in covered wagons - which is slowly winding its way across the veldt.

The destination is the Valley of the Baobab Trees where they all hope to farm, but for the Seddon family there is a more exciting possibility awaiting them in their future home - gold! Mr. Seddon possesses a secret map indicating where gold is to be found, but unfortunately two unscrupulous members of the trek also know of this map, and when her father mysteriously disappears Jane refuses to
believe that he is dead and determines to carry
on the trek with the help of her young brother, Jack, and their friend, Colin Lambert.

They have many hair-raising adventures in their efforts to outwit the villains, stake their claim to the gold, and rescue their father, before they are all happily reunited in their new home in the Valley of the Baobab Trees.
