Book 1: Veld Sketchbook comprises a series of over 70 drawings of birds, animals, insects and flora sketched in their natural habitat by Jeff Huntly who has also written the text. As the title implies, the work is a miscellany of field observations made in many parts of Rhodesia but mainly in the Melsetter and Marandellas districts. The articles have appeared in The Rhodesia Herald as a weekly series over the past two years, and are now produced in handy book form in response to popular demand.
This is not a scientific approach to wild life but an expression of the pleasure experienced by an artist-naturalist in his observations of our natural environment and its creatures. No peculiar habit of bird or beast, or their amusing antics, has escaped his notice, and they have all been recorded for your delight and instruction.
