March - the time that Julius Caesar warned "beware
the Ides of March". As Summer turned to Autumn, so the
fate of the nation changed.As always it was politics
that dominated the news - each time about the steps being taken
to implement a political settlement that would eventually bring
peace to the country.
March 1974
Rhodesia's most popular person to hate, Harold Wilson, was once
again sent to 10 Downing Street.
Murder and mayhem at The Falls, whilst in the UK an attempt was
made on the life of Princess Anne.
Meanwhile tragedy struck P.E.A.
March 1978
Saw great events take place as an Internal Settlement was reached
and white-minority rule in Rhodesia came to an end.
March 1979
Twelve months later and the country prepares for the first ever
one-man one-vote elections.
General Hickman is forced into retirement whilst the country
continues its attacks against ZANLA.
March 1980
Once again the country goes to the polls and elects Robert Mugabe
as Prime Minister.
The final days of Rhodesia come to a close.
